The scope of supervision covers four domains: plan, organise and coordinate, control, and lead in a business environment. This qualification addresses each of these domains with competencies specific to planning support of office functions, organise and coordinate work activities, coaching and mentoring of others, handling conflicts, and performing office controls. It provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills that enable functioning as an office supervisor.

The Occupational Certificate: Office Supervisor qualification provides a learner with the competencies required to operate as an Office Supervisor in various businesses as well as give them the ability to apply key terms, rules, concepts, principles and practices of management that will enable learners to be informed office supervisor.

What you will learn in this course!

Upon completing this full qualification, you will be able to:

  • Organise and coordinate work activities with other work units or departments.
  • Coach and mentor administrators in an office environment.
  • Handle internal communications within an office environment.

  • Ensure compliance with regulations and company procedures.

Note that there are three components to the learning:

  1. Knowledge Modules
  2. Practical Skills Modules
  3. Work Experience Modules

 

You will complete the Knowledge and Practical Learning with Mind-the-Gap but your work experience will need to be completed in a workplace and entered into a MOU prior to you starting the qualification.

The knowledge modules you will complete with us is as follows and makes up 75 credits of your learning:

  • Programme 1: Fundamentals of Office Supervision (334101-000-00-KM-01)
  • Programme 2: Communicating in the Workplace (334101-000-00-KM-02)
  • Programme 3: Supervisory Skills & Internal Controls in an Office Environment (334101-000-00-KM-03)

 

The practical skills modules you will complete with us is as follows and makes up 75 credits of your learning:

  • Provide Planning Support on Recruitment, Selection and Disciplinary Processes of an Organisation (334101-000-00-PM-010)
  • Organising and Coordinating Work Activities (334101-000-00-PM-02)
  • Coaching and Mentoring of Personnel Clerks, Filing Clerks and Data Capturers in an Office Environment (334101-000-00-PM-03)
  • Handle Internal Communications within an Office Environment (334101-000-00-PM-04)
  • Handle Conflicts and Solve Problems within an Office Environment (334101-000-00-PM-05)
  • Handle Compliance to Regulations and Company Procedures (334101-000-00-PM-06)
  • Perform Financial Controls and Reporting in an Office Environment (334101-000-00-PM-07)

The work experience modules you will need to complete in an approved workplace is as follows and makes up 90 credits of your learning:

  • Recruitment, Selection and Discipline Maintenance Support (334101-000-00-WM-01)
  • Scheduling and Coordination of Various Activities in and Outside Own Department (334101-000-00-WM-02)
  • Coaching, Mentoring and Team Building (334101-000-00-WM-03)
  • Communications (334101-000-00-WM-04)
  • Conflict Resolution in an Office (334101-000-00-WM-05)
  • Office Internal Controls (334101-000-00-WM-06)
  • Office Financial Controls (334101-000-00-WM-07)

 

Once you have successfully completed all three components of your learning, you will also need to be sit an External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA) that is administered by the AQP of the QCTO for this qualification.
