Risk management involves identifying those events or situations that could negatively affect the business, including its employees, customers, technologies, processes, procedures, assets, etc. and implementing plans, policies and procedures to minimise such risk, so that it does not pose a threat to the business. It also involves monitoring the plans so that corrective action can be taken to continuously improve the process.

In this skills programme we will develop the knowledge and skills to effectively identify and manage risk in the workplace.

What you will learn in this course!

We will cover the following knowledge and skills as learning outcomes:

o   Explain the concept of risk and risk assessment;

o   Identify potential risks to a unit;

o   Analyse potential risks impact in a business unit;

o   Create contingency plans for managing risk;

o   Test and revise contingency plans;

 

Who this course is for?

This skills programme is aimed at managers or where workplace tasks involve assessing, managing and monitoring risk.

1: Understand Potential Risks to a Unit

1.1          Concept of Risk

1.2          Factors that could Constitute Risks to a Unit

1.3          Role of Organisational Policies and Procedures

1.4          Risk Management Process

 

 2: Identify Potential Risks and Assess Impact in a Unit 

2.1          Identify Potential Risk Factors for Critical Processes

2.2          Identify Possible Scenarios that could Constitute a Risk

2.3          Perform an Analysis to Rate the Impact of Each Scenario

 

3: Develop & Revise Contingency Plans for Managing Risk           

3.1          Develop Contingency Plans in Accordance with Organisational Policies and Procedures

3.2          Communicate Contingency Plans to Relevant Stakeholders

3.3          Distribute and Store Contingency Plans

3.4          Test Contingency Plans

3.5          Document Recommendations on Improvements to Contingency Plans
